Peace, Literacy, Agriculture

Haiti, with its label as the “poorest country in the western hemisphere” appeals to the many donors who connect peace and security with the ability to be economically productive and the ability to provide for one’s self and one’s family and to contribute to one’s community. The productive agricultural cooperative model as a means of fostering peace in the world by investing in economic opportunities for the poorest of the poor resonates particularly among a rural population from which we derive the majority of our support. 

Over 80% of FIDA’s annual budget directly supports programming activities.

“Spending of funds is confined to programs and projects approved by FIDA/pcH.  Each restricted contribution donated toward such an approved program or project will be used as restricted by the donor with the understanding that when the need for such a program or project has been met, or cannot be completed for any reason as determined by FIDA/pcH, the remaining restricted contributions will be used where needed most.”

FIDA is a registered Canadian charitable organization
(BN 13365 2768 RR0001 or US EIN # 59-2821950) that was established by Jack and Anne Wall in 1980.  FIDA’s working arm in Haiti is productive cooperatives Haiti (pcH). In order to be eligible for a CIDA match all contributions must be made out to FIDA and designated Haiti Earthquake Relief and Reconstruction.
